Solange was born in Chuquicamata, Chile to a Chilean Father and Cuban Mother. She came to the United States in 1964 and settled in Queens, NYC, after her father’s sudden passing. Watching her mother's struggles as an immigrant single parent trying to provide for her family, affected her deeply. Solange's love for media and all its incarnations come from searching for identity. As a child she never saw images of her people or culture reflected back in a positive way. Even as a little girl she knew that she would grow up and be involved in media in some way. Solange is dedicated to ending violence against women, ending poverty and creating a fundamental understanding of how our foreign and domestic political, economic and labor policies impact immigration. She is also a Mother, Producer, Writer and avid animal lover. Her "Barrio Vibes" radio program airs weekly every Friday morning 8-10 am PST on KWMR 90.5 in Pt. Reyes. Her hobbies include Cooking, Hiking, and Overthrowing the Patriarchy. Her Guilty Pleasures include Chocolate ( a vitamin as far as she is concerned!) watching Lifetime TV and Overthrowing the Patriarchy.
