Beyond Oil
What if you knew all the technology to function oil free was available, but just needs political support? That technology is within reach. The BP oil disaster in the Gulf is a wake up call to forge ahead in creating a clean energy future. People must urge President Obama to get the United States off oil within the next twenty years.
The first step is to stop oil spewing into the Gulf. The sooner the flow is stopped the less the wildlife, the ocean and the economy of the region will suffer. BP should pay for every penny of the response costs, and for every one of the thousands of lost jobs in tourism and fishing resulting from this disaster.
To show support for clean energy the Sierra Club and other groups are hosting a world- wide event on June 26th called Hands Across the Sand. Over 500 communities will create a line in the sand to protest off-shore drilling. On June 30 a rally on the National Mall in Washington DC will show support for clean energy.
Why is it taking so long for clean energy to become the norm? Why isn’t there more political support for clean energy? Can BP go bankrupt if they foot the bill for the spill?
